SUNDAY SUMMARY| 14

From our last trip to Italy in 2018! Ashley and Jordan are leading the pack, and you can see my short self behind Max in the black t-shirt. Jerome’s head is peeking over Bryan’s tall shoulder if you zoom waaaaay in.

MAY | 2022

Ciao, Italy!

After exploring every tropical destination under the sun and being completely discouraged by this summer’s flight prices to said destinations, we decided to redirect our attention to one of our favorite places in the world — Italy. This time we’re headed straight to the coast to explore Naples, Positano, and Capri before heading northeast to visit some friends in the beautiful town of Ripatransone where we met Ashley, Jordan (@keepgoingplaces), and Jerome (@jeromebediones) 4 years ago. And…to top it all off — the 5 of us will be traveling together! We’re so excited to reunite in the country that introduced us, sans vespas! We’re opting for 4 wheels and less stress this time.

I’ll post a full itinerary after our trip so that I can include links to hotels and AirBnBs, experiences, and restaurants so that you can have one comprehensive list of recommendations!

Reading

I just talked about both of these books in my recently uploaded May Favorites video, but I needed to ensure they had a permanent place in this newsletter, too, because they were THAT good.

One Italian Summer

Did this book inspire our travels this summer? Maybe. One Italian Summer is about a daughter who loses her mother. Several weeks before she died, the two made plans to visit the Amalfi Coast together. Determined to discover what her mom loved so much about the coastal city, the daughter takes the trip solo, only to run into her mother…30 years in the past. It’s a fantastic feel good story that deals with loss, grief, and forgiveness - highly recommend.

The Roughest Draft

In this book, two wildly successful co-authors with a storied history are brought back together to write one final book together to fulfill the terms of their contract. It switches between the past and present and is written from both writers’ points of view to help you better understand what drove them apart and what’s pulling them back together. Rated 5 stars - I’d definitely read it again!

We’re diving headfirst into summer this week, all courtesy of Half Baked Harvest. One day I will give other food bloggers a chance, but today is not that day!

The Sale Rack

A couple of summaries ago, I outlined how I beat the 20% off Sephora Sale Discounts by shopping directly through brand websites, utilizing discount codes, and utilizing Rakuten. I recently had more online discount success and wanted to share how I saved $$$ by shopping outside of Sephora.

Saie

  • I’ve been wanting to try the Saie Glowy Super Gel for quite some time. When I went to purchase on Sephora, I noticed they were out of the $15 mini, and my only option was to buy the full size for $28. No thanks!

  • I visited the Saie website where the Mini Glowy Super Gel ($15) and their Dew Blush in Rosy ($24) were both in stock.

  • You get free shipping on orders over $30, and I got an additional 15% off using the discount code GETGLOWING. I found that code through Dealspotr!

  • Instead of paying $52 at Sephora (since I would have had to buy the Glowy Super Gel full price), I paid $33 on the Saie website + received free shipping.

Tower 28

  • Unlike the Saie products, both Tower 28 products I wanted were in stock at Sephora - the SunnyDays Tinted Moisturizer ($30) and the 1oz size of the SOS Facial Rescue Spray ($12).

  • Tower 28 Beauty also offers free shipping on orders $30+, and I snagged a discount code (GIRLBOSS) for a free 1oz size of the facial spray!

  • Instead of paying $42 at Sephora, I paid $30 on the Tower28 website + received free shipping.

Note: The codes listed are ones I found through Dealspotr - I am in no way connected to them.

The Latest

My May Favorites video went live yesterday, and you can see I raved about the same books in that video that I did in this newsletter. We also chatted about well-loved Amazon finds, free phone backgrounds that have been making me happy, and even some granola. It was a weird one, but I hope you enjoy!

Holiday History

If you’re interested in learning more about Memorial Day and why we celebrate it, I enjoyed reading this article from the History Channel. I feel like I’ve always understood what we were celebrating in general, but I never knew how the holiday came to be. If you were curious like I was, you may enjoy that article, too!
