Sunday Summary - 01.16.22
I rated this 4 stars - which is probably generous - but I loved the setting and the feel of these easy-to-read books.
If you haven’t already read The Tourist Attraction or Mistletoe & Mr. Right, read those first!
Drive to Survive on Netflix
I saw exactly one Formula 1 race in my life before watching this show. You don’t need any knowledge of the sport to enjoy this docu-series.
What these drivers do is INSANE, and the politics within the sport are somehow even more mind-boggling. We’re already looking up tickets to attend a race this year, so I guess we’re thooooose people.
Cheer: Season 2 on Netflix
There is something about this show that keeps me coming back. I’ve seen the first season almost 3 times (currently rewatching it), and the second season was fantastic but it had a MUCH different feel.
I felt like this was one big commentary on how social media and the pandemic have affected everything and how decisions you make affect people unintentionally in unexpected ways. The cheerleading is incredible, and the lessons are important. This is a must-watch in my opinion.
This is the Dallas food blogger’s second cookbook, and she came to PLAY with the recipes. Her first book focused on lunches and dinners - all with a healthy twist, as she’s a big Whole30 proponent.
This one spices things up in the best way. Whole chapters on appetizers, cocktails, and desserts are included, and she’s really able to showcase her range!
Favorite recipes so far (can’t link these, but I did link the book! You won’t regret it.)
Pasta a la vodka
Deconstructed Falafel Salad
The Last Word (cocktail)
Golden Hour (cocktail)
Wallpapering our Bathroom
At the beginning of each year, I get the “home design” bug. This year I want to focus on finishing little projects we’ve put off (hello, TV still sitting on the hearth) and on bringing more of our personalities and character into our home.
I would describe our house as “boho with clean lines” — but we have too much white in our house, and we want to warm things up a bit. I love little details, an earthy color palette, and anything from Rifle Paper Co.
In our primary bathroom we have a fantastic soaker tub sitting in front of a big, blank, white wall. We want to add an accent wall with peel-and-stick wallpaper! Inexpensive, easy (allegedly), and big-impact. Samples come in this week!
