Sunday Summary - 10.30.22
Reading
This book was so unexpectedly good! The story follows an award winning audiobook narrator and slowly reveals the details of an unfortunate accident that stripped her of her acting career and landed her in a sound booth. There’s a love story involved, and the banter between the two main characters was so quick witted that I caught myself laughing out loud a lot. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique plotline!

Watching
Favorite Lately: Celebrity Jeopardy (on Hulu) has become our new Monday night “thing.” We keep a score sheet and do our best to answer the trivia questions alongside the contestants, and it’s been a lot of fun. I’m not going to lie — being the score keeper is kind of stressful, and you have to pause the TV a lot, but it’s worth it.
Please tell me y’all saw this announcement:
The Santa Clauses - I sent this post to a few friends via Instagram, and everyone’s reaction was the same — “I’m skeptical.” Will I watch the show? Absolutely. Will I like it? To be determined. This comment under the Disney+ Instagram post made me cackle, because I concur wholeheartedly.
The Santa Clause is my favorite Christmas movie. I think I can quote the whole thing by heart, and my family can attest to that since they tell me to be quiet when we watch it every year. BUT — I’m pretty skeptical about this one! I like to pretend The Santa Clause 3 never happened, so let’s all remain hopeful this show is better than that!
Cooking
So nice we made them twice!
Holy smokes, she nailed this recipe. I’m a big fan of the Starbucks egg bites, and these taste EXACTLY the same! I replaced the bacon with diced red bell pepper, and I recommend using 1 tsp of garlic instead of the 1/2 tsp her recipe calls for. I’ve made this recipe twice, and the extra garlic makes it taste more like the Sbux version, in my humble opinion.
I use the Instant Pot method and bought the recommended silicone mold for less than $10. It’s great for both cooking them and storing them in the fridge!
Weekly Favorites
I have this color on my nails as we speak, and I’m wishing I would have shared it a little earlier because it’s the perfect deep purple for Halloween! Sometimes darker colors just read black on your nails, and this one truly reads purple-y, eggplant and I love it! Olive and June polishes are all I use now thanks to their 15-free formula and their staying power. They just released their winter set, and it’s GOOD. I love the purple, blue, green, and light blue shades!
I haven’t worn tall boots since college, but I feel like this style is back and these are going to get a lot of mileage this fall and winter. I love the low heel and unique color that will look great with both warm and cool toned outfits. For reference, I usually wear regular/M width shoes, have a regular calf circumference, am 5’2”, and these fit a tiny bit slouchy and hit just below my knee. I buy all boots a half size up to accommodate thicker socks, and the 7.5 fit great. They’re also really easy to take on and off thanks to the inside zipper. Highly recommend!
Shopping tip: Use Rakuten to get 4% cash back right now, and use Honey to find a discount code! I found a 25% off discount code via Honey, got 4% back via Rakuten, and used a portion of a gift card, so I snagged these for $70 out of pocket.)
We’ve been on a detergent journey in our house, because I’m really trying my best to find household products that don’t have excessive plastic packaging or harmful ingredients. After much trial and error with laundry detergent, we’re back to good ole Tide and we’ll do our best to make changes elsewhere. I tried the internet’s favorite Blueland laundry tabs, and they didn’t clean our clothes well or remove any stains. We then tried Molly’s Suds which did a better job cleaning, but it did just as poorly as Blueland at stain removal. The Tide Ultra Stain Release blew both out of the water (no pun intended) — pure magic!
While we’re on the topic, we also didn’t have success with the Blueland Dishwasher tabs, but we DID have luck with their toilet tablets! I think they do a much better job of cleaning than the Method Toilet Bowl cleaner I used for years.
Reminder! A new section is coming to the website on November 1st. There may or may not be an accompanying video, too. Get excited!
