Sunday Summary - 11.13.22

I wore shorts on Wednesday, and Nash had to wear his coat on Saturday — crazy weather week for us, but it’s definitely starting to feel like Thanksgiving time!

Reading, Listening, & Watching

I’m still reading A Season for Second Chances, so there are no exciting book updates this week.

If you were a fan of Silicon Valley or Parks and Rec, stop what you’re doing and watch this show right now. Richard from Silicon Valley and Jean-Ralphio from Parks and Rec have teamed up (as themselves) to perform live improv. There are 3 episodes in the special, and they are absolutely hysterical!

This show is the perfect remedy for the pain you feel after watching From Scratch!

This movie is exactly what you think it would be, and it’s exciting to see LIndsay Lohan back to more of her 90s/early 2000s self. It released on Netflix earlier this week, and it’s the first of many new Christmas movie and TV show releases I’m excited to watch during the 2022 holiday season. Enjoy!

Podcast: Expensive Open Enrollment Mistakes to Avoid: Making the Best of a Bad System - Confession: I haven’t listened to this episode yet, because my AirPods have been dead most of the week, BUT I’m very excited to dive into this episode from Money with Katie.

Cooking

This week we’re focusing on simple, easy to cook and clean meals before we start our prep for Thanksgiving! We’re hosting bits and pieces of both sides of our family this year, and I’ll be sharing that menu next week!

Exciting News! Caraway has provided me with a discount link that gets you 20% off SITEWIDE! If you shop through this link, the discount will automatically apply at checkout. This is especially exciting because the Saute Pan was featured in my recent Gift Guide for Her and has been well loved (alongwith the rest of the cookware set) all year long!

Recipes for the week:

  1. Crispy Cauliflower Tinga Tacos with Honey Lime Avocado Crema

  2. Crockpot Herb Butter Chicken and Wild Rice

  3. Crockpot Spicy Vegetarian Tortilla Soup with Quinoa

  4. Easiest One Pan Caprese Pesto Orzo Bake

Weekly Favorites

For someone who loves Christmas as much as I do, our house doesn’t exactly show It. We’ve had one wreath on our front door the last couple of years, and I wanted to spruce things a bit. All Hearth & Hand Christmas decor is 25% off today, so I bought two of the 10’ garlands to surround the front door and the matching wreath that comes with little bells.

Will report back on quality and true color — online pics are always deceiving! We also got these tiny wreaths and battery operated candles for the windows along the front of our house.

The groomer we go to does a fantastic job on Nash’s curly hair, but it’s nearly impossible to get an appointment with them. Because his hair was so overgrown around his eyes, I decided to be brave, buy some grooming scissors, and attempt to groom him myself. Things went SO much better than I anticipated, and these scissors with curved ends make me feel a lot more comfortable. They’re super sharp and cut really well!

I’ve talked about this app quite a bit, but this time of year when most of us are spending a little extra, this app is insanely nice to have. I love the smart categorization of transactions, the quick view of investment changes, and the ability to export transactions.

They’re in the process of testing their desktop version which should be released early next year! It is a paid app, but you can use code A6M9T6 to get a month free to test it out for yourself.

The Latest

Buying for guys can be tricky, and I just so happen to have a lot of them to shop for each Christmas. With two brothers, a dad, and a husband, I’ve learned to keep a running list of ideas in my phone throughout the year so I’m not scrambling at the last minute.

For this year’s “Gift Guide for Him” I took inventory of Bryan’s favorite things and compiled them into a list to help you shop for the guys in your life — happy gifting!
